Humboldt High’s Lady Cubs notched two wins on the road Tuesday night. Yates Center High’s Wildcats took a split at Eureka.
Southern Coffey County High’s Lady Titans went 2-1 at St. Paul Tuesday.
Humboldt dropped the first set then bounced back to beat host Oswego, 21-25, 25-19, 25-16. The Lady Cubs downed Neodesha 25-20, 25-20.
“We got off to a slow start but once we got going we played like a team,” said Stephanie Splechter, HHS head coach. “We were aggressive at the net and played to win, not to not lose against Nodesha.”
In the Oswego match, Sheri Middleton had eight kills, six blocks and eight serve points for the Lady Cubs. Kindahl Young had four kills and Kayle Riebel had three blocks. Taylyn Wells had nine service points, four aces and seven digs. Hannah McCall had seven digs and four aces. Anna Setter had six set assists.
In the win over Neodesha, Middleton served 11 points plus had six kills and eight blocks at the net. McCall had seven kills and four digs. Setter had nine assists and Wells had four ace serves and four digs.
Yates Center beat Marmaton Valley 25-17, 25-12. It lost to Eureka 25-4, 25-10. No other details were available.
After losing twice last week, Southern Coffey County came back to beat Prairie View 25-17, 19-25, 25-18 and Pleasanton 25-2, 25-15. The Lady Titans lost to host St. Paul 26-24, 25-17.
“We served much better but our passing accuracy and setting has to  improve so we can get more attack opportunities,” said Jeff True, SCCH head coach.
Ashton Isch had 20 kills — 14 against Prairie View — and so did Sarah Webb. Breanna Isch had seven blocks at the net. Martyna Hegwald had 25 set assists and Katelyn Rogers had 23 assists.
     Last Thursday, Southern Coffey County lost to Eureka 25-14, 25-21 and to Olpe 25-16, 25-23 at Le Roy. It was the start of the season for the Lady Titans.
    “I was pleased with our performance overall against two very athletic teams. We have lots of room for improvement especially become more consistent in passing and serving,” said Jeff True, SCCH head coach.
     Against Eureka, Ashton Isch had seven kils for the Lady Titans while Saran Webb and Breanna Isch each had four kills. Jordan Storrer and A. Isch had five digs each and Katelyn Rogers was credited with eight set assists. In the Olpe match, Webb put down six kills and Martyna Hegwald had six set assists. Jenna Witteman had four digs.
     In junior varsity play, Southern Coffey County beat Eureka 15-10, 16-14 and lost to Olpe 15-8, 15-4.

     Crest lost to Madison 25-16, 25-14, lost to Marmaton Valley 25-21, 25-20 and lost to Yates Center 25-14, 22-25, 25-17 last Tuesday. Tessa Louk had nine kills and five blocks in the three matches. Brytton Strickler had four service aces, two kills and three blocks. Katrina Strickler had 10 set assists. Chelsey Brooks and Paige Tush each had four ace serves. Tush had five digs. The Crest junior varsity lost 25-14, 25-16 to Madison and lost 25-20, 24-26, 15-7 to Marmaton Valley.
     Last Thursday, the Lady Lancer JV lost three matches in the Yates Center High JV Invitational. Neodesha beat Crest 17-25, 25-18, 25-13, Yates Center beat Crest 25-13, 25-18 and West Elk beat Crest 25-15, 25-17. Madison Covey had seven service aces and five set assists. Erica Holman served six aces and had seven digs. Suzanna Lea, Emily Frank and Covey each had two kills.
